JAKARTA, 9 March 2022 – In this digital era, all companies are required to carry out digital transformation. This process has been triggered by the Covid-19 pandemic which has accelerated all sectors to immediately transform.

Azis Sidqi Deputy EVP Enterprise Service Division PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk said, one of the transformation processes that are urgently needed by all companies today is to modernize the platform. The goal is for companies to be more competitive to improve the company’s business performance.

“Platform transformation is important considering the threat of cyberspace is extraordinary, so companies need an integrated network and security, both at the head office, branches in any location where the internet can be accessed anywhere and anytime,” he said at the SD-WAN Webinar Series event: ” Empower Your Business Through Total Managed SD-WAN Services” organized by Digiserve by Telkom Indonesia together with the Telkom Group virtually in Jakarta.

Azis also explained that to accommodate the needs in the digital era and to make the company more dynamic, it requires capable technology that is able to support platform modernization. One of them is SD-WAN (Software-Defined Wide Area Network) technology which has a network solution that is agile, flexible, scalable, consistent and secure in its operations.

“SD-WAN technology also makes it easy, simplifying the management of remote connectivity through real-time applications at a more efficient cost. Telkom, through one of its subsidiaries, which has an SD-WAN portfolio, provides Total Managed SD-WAN services. This is the only one in Indonesia,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Hartono, President Director of Digiserve, emphasized his commitment to provide the best service to industry players through the provision of related IT services including SD-WAN services. This commitment is evidenced by the excellence of Digiserve’s talents, which currently has 205 international certifications, thus supporting the quality of Digiserve’s business and service portfolio.

These qualified human resources are to accommodate the growing enterprise market. By 2022, the enterprise market will reach US$8571 or Rp 111 trillion. Meanwhile, the SD-WAN market has continued to grow in the last 5 years where in 2022 it is estimated that the SD-WAN market value will reach Rp 500 billion (US$ 37 million) with a CAGR of 25.6%.

“This market growth is in line with the increasingly massive digital transformation process in Indonesia. Enterprises in Indonesia will also be more massive with the implementation of the Digital Connected Ecosystem. This is also in line with one of the Telkom Group’s strategies in improving and modernizing connectivity services so that it supports business, operations to customers to be more agile and lean,” he said.

Djauhari Nurachman, VP Sales & Customer Management Digiserve, said that SD-WAN is able to provide Faster Problem Resolution, Complete IT Control, Simplified Branch Network, Optimize Apps Performance, Deliver Branch Agility and finally, and also able to reduce costs.

Therefore, it is not an exaggeration if SD-WAN is called one of today’s modern platforms. Telkom as a Managed Services Provider (MSP) presents the only Managed SD-WAN solution in Indonesia that is able to provide four main values for its users, namely Total Connectivity, Total Technology, Total Support Services, and Total Business.

“It is hoped that this Managed Services will make the company focus more on Core Business because there is an MSP that handles the daily operations of the network with a team that has qualified qualifications,” said Djauhari.

The high demand for this modern platform, has been predicted by IDC. This is driven by the increasing threat in cyberspace and the need for new functionality. IDC estimates that up to 65% of organizations will aggressively modernize their legacy systems by investing more extensively in new technology platforms through 2023.

Mevira Munindra, Country Manager of IDC Indonesia said that by 2023, 1 in 3 companies will generate more than 30% of their revenue from digital products and services. This is an increase compared to 1 in 5 companies in 2020. (Source: IDC ASEAN FutureScape 2022)

Another IDC prediction is that by 2022 the digital economy will be mainstream. At least 65% of Asia/Pacific GDP comes from digital products and services. This shows that there are bright points of recovery (recovery horizons) in the midst of the ongoing pandemic, especially in the economic sector.

Based on IDC Black Book data, 2021, corporate ICT spending in Indonesia is estimated to reach IDR 123 Trillion in 2022, growing 6.8% compared to 2021. It is also estimated that in the next 5 years, the market will grow by 9.2% (CAGR 2020- 2025) which reached Rp 159 trillion, driven by Services and Software in line with digital transformation in the organization.

“About 90% of Indonesian companies expect to have at least the same IT spending as last year where most of the technology spending is focused on cloud, analytics, security and productivity/ communication apps, connectivity solutions,” said Mevira.

Onno W. Purbo, Indonesia IT Expert confirmed that SD-WAN technology is a solution for companies to be more agile. Companies can invest by buying which is then managed by themselves.

“Of course this will be a separate homework for the company. However, for those who don’t want to be bothered, they will entrust the management to a third party. The company, in return, will have a peace oe mind and know everything is in order, well managed and more secure,” he said.

This SDWAN service has the potential to be implemented by leading industries, namely banking and financial services, then the manufacturing, retail and distribution sector, then the government sector in the form of E-Government or digital government and finally the Resources sector.

Maybank is one of the companies in the banking sector that has used the SD-WAN service from Digiserve. Maybank implements SD-WAN because it requires TCO efficiency for 342 branches throughout Indonesia while providing solutions that comply with the PCI DSS Standard for banking.

Johanes Setiyabudi, IT Technology Operation Head Maybank Indonesia said that Maybank was the first bank in Indonesia to implement SD-WAN for all branches throughout Indonesia. This implementation is able to reduce operational costs, especially for banking transactions at branch offices.

“The transaction process is smooth, effective and efficient. The digital transformation process in all branches can run as expected. Banking transaction traffic becomes safer, improves company performance, is more flexible in controlling, is scalable to increase the amount of traffic, and most importantly is cost effective,” he said.

This statement was supported by Hendro Suyanto, VMware Network & Security Sales Manager who confirmed that VMWare SASE is able to optimize and secure Cloud connectivity.

In Traditional Enterprise operations, both applications, data and users are all centered on the data center at the head office. Therefore, high security is carried out around the company data center (enterprise data center). However, after the digital transformation era, a shift occurred where users, applications and data began to be distributed driven by the increasing number of companies adopting cloud services. “Users need to access any application from anywhere with any devices. This is to more easily describe the enterprise in the current era,” said Hendro

To answer the challenges in the distributed enterprise era, VMware currently puts forward a solution called Anywhere Workspace which is an integrated solution consisting of three VMware product components, namely: VMware Carbon Black (cloud native, endpoint protection), Vmware Workspace One (Unified endpoint solution). Managemnet/EUM and virtual desktop) and lastly is VMware SASE (Zero Trust Security and Network Performance Management), which aims to address the challenges of security and access to distributed enterprises.

The same thing was conveyed by Andris Masengi, Sales Director of CISCO Indonesia, which provides 2 SD-WAN products, namely Viptela and Meraki where these two products are needed by various industries with various conditions.

Cisco is a Leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for WAN Edge Infrastructure. Globally, Cisco has more than 40,000 customers, which is the largest install-base installation, of which 70% of these customers are Fortune 100 companies. According to IDC, Dell ‘Oro, and Gartner, Cisco also holds the share largest market and has won the CRN 2020 Tech Innovator Award for Cisco Secure Access Edge (SASE), as well as the CRN 2021 Tech Innovator Award for the Catalyst 8000 Edge Platform Family. This is proof that Cisco has world-class product management and solutions.
