  • Managing networks is still one of the major challenges for companies or organizations in Asia-Pacific that embark on digital transformation initiatives. Traditional networking models are no longer able to cope with the lack of agility, flexibility, and scalability to accommodate all changes in the corporate IT environment.
  • Telkomtelstra presents SD-WANs that use high-performing WAN, cloud applications over the internet, and hybrid WANs to meet enterprise branch networking demands.

JAKARTA, July 18, 2018 – Rapid development of digital technology demands the use of new technologies to manage network connectivity efficiently. The need to expand business operations and branch offices, especially in remote area, while facing a challenge to deliver a seamless connectivity at the same time remains one of the significant challenges for enterprises in Asia-Pacific that embark on digital transformation initiatives.

Mevira Munindra, Senior Research Manager for Consulting and Head of Operations at International Data Corporation (IDC) Indonesia, explained that network planning management is essential for successful business operations. “The rapidly changing business landscape demands the use of new technologies and more effective management to build a digital ready organization. Based on IDC Asia Pacific Communication Survey 2017, the competitive technologies like Cloud, Big Data Analytics and IoT are key priorities to be implemented in Indonesia in the upcoming years – and these adoptions will require the suitable infrastructure, especially network as core backbone. Organizations with highly aligned strategies to accommodate all changes in the corporate IT environment have more than doubled the rate of revenue growth, customer retention, and profit growth relative to firms with only partial or no alignment,” said Mevira in Digital Transformation (DiTA) Journey held by telkomtelstra in collaboration with IDC, in Jakarta, Wednesday (18/7).

Companies, looking for an agile, flexible and scalable network solution to handle central visibility in managing their multiple business operations and various branch locations, are often interested in the features offered by the Wide Area Network (SD-WAN) technology defined by the software. SD-WAN is a new transformational way to design, deploy, and operate enterprise WANs, as it provides a simplified way of managing remote branch connectivity through real-time applications in a cost-effective way.

IDC estimated that SD-WAN implementation will increase significantly worldwide with a compound annual growth (CAGR) of 69.6% and infrastructure revenue and SD-WAN services worldwide will reach $ 8.05 billion in 2021. Technologies like Internet of Things (IoT) and Cloud are determined as two of key drivers for SD-WAN implementation, driving more required bandwidth and friendly network architecture to the technologies in the organizations.

David Gee, telkomtelstra’s Chief Operating Officer, said that one of the most critical drivers of SD-WAN growth over the next five years is the improvement of cloud implementation for business needs. “With SD-WAN, companies can now mobilize new branch locations and manage multiple branch offices from the cloud in minutes. IT departments can also control and monitor multiple branch locations from a centralized monitoring view. SD-WAN can be designed to accommodate the performance of a reliable cloud application on public applications that companies use, such as analytics, video, and desktop sharing,” David said.

As enterprises look for new and better ways to expand business and connect branch offices, telkomtelstra recognizes that traditional WANs cannot provide the necessary infrastructure to support the branch operations that need to be agile and require better application performance as well as lower cost bandwidth.

According to David Gee, SD-WAN from telkomtelstra uses high-performance WAN, cloud application via the internet, and hybrid WAN to simplify implementation and reduce cost and ensure company performance. “As organizations seek to connect their remote office employees and branches better and provide better quality network services, SD-WAN implementation will continue to grow,” David said.
